Presentation | What is IoT The term "Internet of Things" refers to the interconnection and autonomous collaboration of everyday objects to promote the development of intelligent applications. These applications will solve the current and future challenges of our societies. Millions of interconnected devices (cars, household appliances in the home, traffic lights, lampposts, etc.) that already exist in the real world are collecting data that should allow the development of applications. These applications will obtain new knowledge, will enable in a most natural way the intercooperation between man and things and will make decisions in the most appropriate and intelligent way. It is an incipient area with different ramifications within the Information and Communication Technologies sector (hardware design, programming, communications, security, data processing, etc.) that requires a series of multidisciplinary competences between bachellor degrees. Therefore, this master's program arises to complement the training in this area that currently have graduates associated with telecommunication engineering or those related to computer engineering.
MASTER PROGRAM The program is organized around 4 topics: 1.Embedded systems and IoT devices (HW platforms, sensor networks, CPS modelling and mobile devices programming) 2.Services architecture and IoT security (distributed systems, architectures and service platforms, informations models and security in IoT applications) 3.Information management (bigdata applications and cloud computing) 4. Intelligent Applications (Smart Cities, eHealth…) The professors have been choosend from diferent UPM research groups with a lot of experience in the development of R&D projects in the IoT ecosystem. The groups are GDEM, GRyS, I2A2, LSD, SYST and T>SIC. (more information http://www.upm.es/observatorio)
EMPLEABILITY There are numerous references that show the good employment prospects of IoT specialists: COTEC report about the deficiency of IoT training (http://cotec.es/proyecto/analisis-de-la-oferta-educativa-y-de-la-demanda-empresarial-en-espana-en-iot/). Gartner presented a report in the Mobile World Congress 2017 with the prevision of the IoT market for 2020 CISCO developed a report about Internet of Everything (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en_us/about/ac79/docs/innov/IoE_Economy.pdf) World Economic Forum presented a report with the development of the IoT technology
